International Students of History Association — ISHA is a non-governmental organization with aims to provide an international forum for discussion between students of history, social sciences, and other humanities. The main goal is to create interaction between students and bring about intellectual conversation and debate. There are currently two ISHA branches in Finland: one in Turku and one in Helsinki. ISHA has annual international seminars that address historical topics and are accessible for participation. You can apply for membership from all disciplines and backgrounds with an interest in history. For more information go to the ISHA International website.

ISHA Turku/Åbo aims to provide our members opportunities to interact within the ISHA community in Finland and globally. We organize lectures, seminars and recreation (such as game nights) for our members and try to keep them informed of everything the other ISHA branches get up to. Our events are in English and we welcome all local, international, and exchange students. Most of us are not fluent in the language so you don’t have to be either!

ISHA Turku/Åbo consists of five student associations based in Turku: Kritiikki, Vare, P-Klubi, Kutu and F-Piste from the University of Turku, and Kleio from Åbo Akademi. The associations cover a wide range of different subjects, but they all share a common interest in history and international cooperation between university students.

Kritiikki is for students of general, Finnish and cultural history, Vare for archaeology students, P-Klubi for students of contemporary history and political science, Kutu comparative religion students,  F-Piste for students of gender studies, and Kleio is a Swedish-speaking association for students of history. All members of these student associations are automatically members of ISHA Turku/Åbo.
